Brigden, ON (June 12, 2024) – The second round of the 2024 Canadian Triple Crown Series unfolded spectacularly this past weekend at Temple Hill Motorcycle Park in Raymond, AB. After a successful week of amateur racing at the 2024 Western Canadian Amateur National (WCAN), the 250, 450, PreMix, and Women’s classes delivered thrilling performances under intense racing conditions.
450 Class
In the highly competitive 450 class, Dylan Wright (QC) of the GDR/Honda Canada/Fox Racing’s team dominated the track, securing first place in Moto 1 after exciting battles with Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Jess Pettis (BC). Preston Kilroy, the MX101 FXR Yamaha import from Wyoming, USA, demonstrated he has the speed to battle at the front of the pack, finishing the moto in a solid third after swapping positions earlier on with Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Josiah Natzke (NZ). The second 450 moto brought new challenges after Wright’s gut-wrenching crash at the 16-minute mark, resulting in the officials red-flagging the race while he was tended to trackside. After deliberation, the race was determined to be complete, and the finish standings were based on the final lap before the red flag. This resulted in Pettis taking the win, Partzilla PRMX’s Aaron Tanti (AUS) finishing second, and Natzke rounding out the podium.
250 Class
The first moto in the 250 class was filled with textbook racing excitement, giving the Alberta race fans lining the fences something to cheer for from start to finish. A first corner crash off the start of the moto claimed points leader Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Kaven Benoit (QC), along with Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green’s rider Drew Adams (FL) and GDR/Honda Canada/Fox Racing’s Tyler Medaglia (NS). After restarting their bikes, Adams and Benoit steadily carved their way through the pack of 250 riders after their last place starts, with the Florida rider showing his dominant speed by passing Partzilla PRMX’s Gage Linville for 1st with two laps remaining in the race. WLTN Kawasaki’s Quinn Amyotte (ON) delivered a strong performance for third, showcasing his skill and steady determination.
The second moto proved no less exciting after Adams began the race in 1st but suffered a first-lap crash, ending his day in a frustrating fashion. Benoit quickly jumped to the lead, where he stayed for the remainder of the race, chased by MX101 FXR Yamaha’s Sebastien Racine (ON) and Priority MX’s Wyatt Kerr (ON), each achieving their first podiums of the season.
FXR PreMix Class
The action in the PreMix category was equally intense on the weekend, with two rounds scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday’s FXR Pre-Mix class, the riders delivered a blend of speed and technical prowess, with Brock Hoyer (BC) taking the win and Hayden Dupuis (AB) finishing second. Third place’s Jayden Debodt (BC) earned his podium after battling with Joey Parks (BC) for most of the race. On Sunday, defending champion Brock Hoyer demonstrated why he’s the red plate holder with 1-1 finishes, followed by Nanaimo’s Joey Parks (3-2) and Calgary’s Hayden Dupuis (2-3).
THOR WMX Class
A double-header weekend took place in Raymond for the THOR WMX Class, highlighting Red Bull KTM Canada’s Eve Brodeur’s dominance as the 10-time champion walked away with Sunday’s overall 1-1 scores. California’s Viviana Contreras kept Eve honest on Saturday with a consistent and exciting win. A few new faces stood on the podium for the class on Sunday: Annalyse Lopushinsky (BC) (4-3) and Katrine “Kitty” Ferguson (MB) 3-5. BC’s Kaylie Kayer steadily accumulated points with her confident and flowy riding style, earning 2-5 and rounding out the overall podium with 3rd.
The past weekend, the riders in both classes added crucial points to their series tallies as the final western round for both FXR PreMix and THOR WMX rolls into Manitoba on Sunday, June 16th.
