Brigden, ON (June 4, 2024) – The Wild Rose MX Park was alive with excitement this past weekend as it hosted Round 1 of the highly anticipated Triple Crown Series Pro National race on Sunday, June 2nd. Fans from across Canada were treated to a thrilling display of professional motocross skill and domination across the 250 Pro, 450 Pro, FXR PreMix, and FXR WMX classes, showcasing the best talents in the sport.
250 Class
In the 250 class, the competition was fierce from start to finish. Riders battled intensely on the challenging track, but Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Kaven Benoit (QC) emerged victorious, earning the first red plate of the season with a 1-2 moto finish after a dominant lead in the first 250 moto. However, after suffering from an early moto crash in the first race, Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green’s rider Drew Adams (FL) put on a clinic in the second moto with a commanding 27-second gap over second place. Team Partzilla PRMX rider Gage Linville (GA) rounded out the overall podium with a 2-3 on the day. A notable mention is WLTN Kawasaki’s Quinn Amyotte, who finished third in moto one and was battling for third again in the second moto when a lapper cross-jumped into him, damaging the bike and forcing him to pull the throttle cable by hand to complete the race.
450 Class
The 450 class was no less exhilarating, with top-tier riders vying for the coveted first-place spot. Defending champion GDR/Honda Canada/Fox Racing’s Dylan Wright (QC) dominated the race, navigating the demanding Wild Rose terrain with precision and speed to claim the top prize. However, the second moto saw the end of an era with Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Jess Pettis (BC) taking the win after intense battles and wheel-to-wheel action, emerging with the overall win on the day (2-1), ending Wright’s 1039 day streak of winning overalls. In both motos, positions 3-7 saw numerous position changes and intense battles, particularly between WLTN Kawasaki’s Tanner Ward (ON), Partzilla PRMX’s Mitchell Harrison (FL) and KTM Canada/Red Bull’s Josiah Natzke (NZ). Their relentless pursuit of victory showcased the true skill of motocross racing.
FXR PreMix Class
The FXR PreMix class brought a nostalgic and thrilling element to the event, with riders competing on two-stroke machines. Defending champion Brock Hoyer (BC) put on a masterclass performance, skillfully handling the bike to take first place in both motos. The race highlighted the unique challenges and distinct sounds of two-stroke racing, much to the delight of the fans. Second place overall for the day was 16-year-old Dexter Seitz (AB), who kept Hoyer honest in his first season racing the class. BC’s Joey Parks rounded out the top three overall for the day, delivering solid performances with 4-3 moto scores.
THOR WMX Class
The THOR WMX class featured some of the most competitive racing of the day. Defending champion Red Bull/KTM Canada’s Eve Brodeur (QC) battled with newcomer Viviana Contreras (CA), exchanging moto wins and with both women emerging with the coveted red plates for Round 2. The style of Contreras, coupled with Brodeur’s grit, kept fans on the edges of their seats for both motos. BC’s Kaylie Kayer showcased incredible talent and determination, crossing the finish line third in both motos and earning her overall podium spot for the weekend. Her performance was a testament to the growing prominence and skill level in women’s motocross.
The Triple Crown Series race at Wild Rose MX in Calgary was a resounding success. Riders across all classes delivered outstanding performances, and fans lined the fences to cheer for their favourite riders. Teams and fans alike are already looking forward to the next round of the Triple Crown Series, anticipating more high-octane action and unforgettable moments this weekend in Raymond, AB.
