Brigden, ON (June 19, 2024) – The third round of the Triple Crown Series at the picturesque Prairie Hill MX facility in Pilot Mound, Manitoba, was an unforgettable event despite initial weather challenges. Rain threatened to derail the excitement, but the dedicated track crew worked tirelessly to prepare the track for the day’s races.
MRC officials, observing the soaked track conditions, made the decision to reduce practice sessions, allowing the track crew extra time to make necessary adjustments. Their efforts paid off as the sun emerged, drawing a large crowd of eager spectators ready for an action-packed day of racing.
250 Class
In the 250 class, Kawasaki USA’s Drew Adams (1-1) dominated from the restart, showcasing his skill and speed. Despite a strong effort from PRMX’s Gage Linville (2-3), who set some of the fastest lap times of the day, Adams maintained his lead to secure victory. KTM Canada Red Bull’s Kaven Benoit claimed third place, while MX101 Yamaha Canada FXR’s Sebastien Racine (4-2) and Austin Jones (5-7) rounded out the top five. WLTN Kawasaki’s Quinn Amyotte (6-10) made a commendable comeback to finish sixth after two hard crashes.
The saturated track began to dry rapidly as the weather improved, leading to dynamic racing conditions. In the second 250 moto, Drew Adams again took the lead for Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green. After a fourth-place finish in Moto 1, MX101 Yamaha ace Sebastien Racine placed an impressive second in Moto 2, while Linville came home in third. Current series points leader Kaven Benoit finished fourth.
450 Class
The 450 class delivered equally intense Moto 1 action. KTM Canada Red Bull’s Jess Pettis (2-3) initially grabbed the holeshot, but teammate Josiah Natzke (1-1) emerged victorious, marking his first Canadian 450 win. GDR Honda Canada Fox Racing’s Dylan Wright (9-7), despite concerns about his participation following a crash in Lethbridge, Alberta, the previous week, was competitive but ultimately yielded to other top contenders. MX101 Yamaha FXR pilot Preston Kilroy (3-4) brought his Yamaha home in third place, followed by PRMX teammates Mitchell Harrison (4-28) and Arron Tanti (5-2).
In the second 450 moto, Josiah Natzke and PRMX’s Aaron Tanti quickly took command, creating a significant gap from the rest of the field. MX101’s Preston Kilroy, PRMX’s Mitchell Harrison, and WLTN Kawasaki’s Tanner Ward (6-6) led the pursuit.
Despite a challenging start, KTM Canada Red Bull’s Jess Pettis made a remarkable recovery to catch the lead group. Pettis climbed to secure third place, while Tanti held second. Natzke’s flawless performance earned him a dominant 1-1 moto score, securing his first 450 overall win in Canada.
FXR PreMix Class
In FXR Premix competition, it was Maguire Uruskii (2-1) who took home the win over Brock Hoyer (1-3) and Yamaha’s Joey Parks (5-3). It was Hoyer who would clinch the championship over Parks. Fox Racing KTM’s Dexter Sietz brought home third in the series.
THOR WMX Class
In the THOR WMX class action, KTM Canada Red Bull’s Eve Brodeur took the overall and her 11th Women’s Motocross Championship ahead of Viviana Contreras (1-2) and Yamaha’s Kaylie Kayer. The three women finished in the same order in the overall series results.
To add to the day, Marc Oliver Giguere, Eve’s boyfriend who had been injured in a bicycle accident, made a surprise appearance three days into his rehab. The young couple has been working together to race and create their new life together. A GoFundMe account is set up to support their journey: Support Marc-Olivier’s Journey.
The Triple Crown series at Pilot Mound showcased not only the riders’ resilience but also the dedication of the track crew and the fans’ unwavering support. The series now heads to the gruelling sand of Gopher Dunes in Courtland, Ontario, on July 7, 2024.
